Taylor Swift Shocks SNL Audience With Surprise Dakota Johnson Cameo
Taylor Swift gave Saturday Night Live viewers an unexpected surprise this weekend when she suddenly appeared during Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue.
Johnson was hosting the October 3 episode of the long-running NBC comedy show for the third time, with the appearance coming just one day before her 37th birthday. During her monologue, the actress joked about her dating history and her relationships with musicians before introducing Swift as her “literal therapist.”
The audience erupted when Swift walked onto the stage.
Swift immediately played along with the joke, explaining that she was not actually Johnson’s therapist. Instead, she joked that Johnson regularly comes to her home with an empty bottle of wine, lies on her couch and “overshares” about her life.
Johnson then jokingly questioned whether that wasn’t exactly what a therapist does, sending the audience into laughter. Swift continued the bit by saying that after Johnson’s imaginary therapy sessions, she gives her some Pedialyte before having security drive her home.
Swift and Johnson’s friendship takes center stage
The surprise appearance was another public display of the close friendship between the two stars.
Swift and Johnson recently worked together on Swift’s latest music video, “Patient Zero,” with Johnson appearing alongside Colin Farrell. The video premiered at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where Johnson also presented Swift with the Artist Director Honors.
