The Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce: Quoting: ‘I’m My Biggest Critic. Nobody Can Tell Me How Bad I Did… I Know It’.
Travis Kelce is priding himself on being self-aware.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end reflected on how he approaches practice and improving during training camp following Sunday’s session at Missouri Western State University.
“You can say it starts in the offseason, and yeah, you want to get that foundation set, but this is where you really found out what the team is made of — how you practice, your practice habits and the attention to detail,” Kelce said, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic. “I’m just putting my nose down and grinding.”
He continued by saying that he holds himself to a high standard and recognizes his mistakes and works to self-correct them.
“I’m my biggest critic,” Kelce said, per Taylor. “Nobody can tell me how bad I did on a play. I know it right as the play is over and I know what I need to do better.”
Kelce is approaching his 12th NFL Season and will hope to lead his Chiefs to a third consecutive Super Bowl championship. If Kansas City can pull it off, it will become the first franchise since the 1965-67 Green Bay Packers to three-peat.
Kelce’s will be a major factor in those chances. The nine-time Pro Bowler led the team with 984 receiving yards in 2023. He also contributed five touchdowns and added 355 yards and three touchdowns during the Chiefs postseason run.
The Chiefs have reached at least the Conference Championship in every season since 2018 and have reached the Super Bowl four times. Kelce has been a favorite target of quarterback Patrick Mahomes throughout this run and will now hope to keep the success coming.
