Just In: Prince Harry’s explosive statements on whether his determination to fight tabloids destroyed relationship with Royal Family…
The Duke Harry once again spoken out about the strained relationship between himself and the British royal family. In a recent appearance on the ITV documentary ‘Tabloids on Trial,’ the Duke of Sussex discussed the phone hacking scandal involving himself and other prominent figures, including Sir Elton John.
The documentary sheds light on Prince Harry’s legal battle against media intrusion, a case he likens to a “David versus Goliath” scenario, with the plaintiffs facing off against a powerful media conglomerate.
Harry’s comments go beyond the media to touch on his feelings toward his family, whom he accuses of colluding with the press rather than supporting his legal actions.
“That’s certainly a central piece to it,” he said after being asked if his determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with his family.
“But … it’s a hard question to answer, because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse in the press.
“I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done,” the duke said.
“It would be nice if we did it as a family again, from a service standpoint, when you’re in a public role, these are the things we should be doing for the greater good.”
Prince Harry expressed his disappointment that the royal family did not back his decision to take legal action against the press and suggested that a united family front in the lawsuit could have been beneficial.
The Duke also reflected on his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her support for him.
“We had many conversations before she passed,” he noted. “This is very much something she supported. She knew how much this meant to me and she’s very much up there going, ‘See this through to the end,’ without question.”
