Diddy’s fans are concerned about ‘adopted’ daughter’s well-being following his arrest
A resurfaced video of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs presenting a young woman as his ‘adopted daughter’ has sparked concern among fans, following his recent arrest.
Combs, 54, claimed on an Instagram live in 2020 that he ‘adopted’ a girl named Ava because he wanted her to have a ‘Black parent.’
However, the hip-hop mogul — who’s been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering — never actually adopted Ava and the video was a skit, sources have now told TMZ.
In the video, Diddy is seen giving Ava a kiss on the cheek, and says he adopted her with her mother’s permission.
He asks her to introduce herself, and she says her name is ‘Ava Combs.’ She then recounts how she was ‘on the streets’ before ‘Papa Combs decided that he was going to be a caring man.’
Yes, it’s breaking news. Diddy adopted a white child,’ he says in the clip. ‘I want you to tell them the story of how I adopted you. You still have beautiful parents, but you’re my child also. Please, tell the story.’
‘So, I was on the streets, and then Papa Combs decided that he would like to be a caring man,’ she replied, as Diddy chuckled.
‘So then he saw me, and decided to pick me up. And said to come inside and play with his kids.’
‘Ava, that’s a little borderline suspect,’ he states. ‘I adopted you like Madonna adopted kids, and everybody else adopted kids, Charlize Theron, Sandra Bullock. I adopted you because I felt that you could enjoy having a Black parent to take care of you, and help you out. So just clarify it, cause it’s crazy out here online.’
‘You play with the kids, and I got permission from your mother, say all of that,’ he states.
Ava responds by saying that she has been friends with his and the late Kim Porter’s teenage twin daughters, D’Lila and Jessie, 17.
‘Well, I met Jessie and D’Lila when I was six-months-old. And then we basically are sisters.’
Diddy then repeats that her name is Ava Combs before kissing her on the cheek.
Ava has reportedly known the twins since they were children, and is cared for by her own parents, as per TMZ.
Her parents are said to have been friends with Kim, and she remains close with D’Lila and Jessie.
Diddy has not had a parental role in Ava’s life, and she and her family have distanced themselves from him.
Diddy shares a total of seven kids with four different women.
Aside from twins D’Lila and Jessie, he also shares son Christian, 26, with Kim — who died in 2018 — and adopted her son Quincy, 33, from her previous relationship.
Porter’s death caused shock when, as a seemingly healthy 47-year-old woman, she died from pneumonia on November 15, 2018, after suffering with flu-like symptoms in the days prior.
The model and actress was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Combs from around 1994 until they split in 2007.
He also shares son Justin, 30, with stylist and fashion designer Misa Hylton, and daughter Chance, 18, with businesswoman Sarah Chapman.
In December 2022 he welcomed the arrival of his youngest child, daughter, Love, one, with model Dana Tran.
The charge, which details allegations dating back to 2008, accuses him of abusing, threatening and coercing women for years ‘to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.’
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following his arrest, he was denied bail by a judge after he used both his and his mother’s homes in Miami – worth $50 million – as collateral.
On Wednesday, he lost an appeal to overturn the decision and will remain in custody while pending trial.
He is currently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
In the indictment against Diddy that was unsealed this week, it was claimed that federal raids on his Miami and Los Angeles mansions led to the discovery of over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.
It is alleged that the rapper would coerce and manipulate victims into taking part in days-long sexual performances, which he dubbed ‘freak offs.’
Diddy’s associates would allegedly ply victims with drugs to keep them compliant and would make threats against anyone refusing to engage, in claims similar to those made in a civil lawsuit brought by Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie last year.
These allegations were central to prosecutors bringing sex trafficking charges against the producer, with observers noting that authorities are increasingly expanding the law to suit their cases against powerful defendants.
A step up in federal sex trafficking charges was passed by Congress in 2000 as an intentional step to take down prostitution rings and pimps, but the evolving nature of the charge has seen it more recently used to snare individuals like Keith Raniere.
Notably, Diddy has hired the same attorney, Marc Agnifilo, who has previously challenged the government’s expanding use of federal sex trafficking charges in Raniere’s 2019 trial that led to a 120-year sentence.
