Venus Williams’ response during an aeroplane confrontation made a stranger “feel the pain”. The seven-time Grand Slam champion revealed the story to sister Serena during the pair’s episode of their new ‘Stockton Street’ podcast. Topics such as their illustrious careers, forgettable dates and their sisterly connection were discussed, as well as airport arguments. Venus, 45, had an entertaining story in store for her younger sibling.
She began saying: “Speaking of road wars, I have gotten into a few arguments in the airport.
“I remember one time I was in the airport and I saw Pam Grier on the plane. I’m a big fan of her, I love her in Jackie Brown. I went over to her seat and was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m such a big fan.’ I never go up to anyone but I love her.
“There was a guy who came and he was like, ‘This is my seat.’ So I went around to the front and kept talking to her and he went, ‘Someone might be sitting there.’ And I ignored him.
I finished my conversation and then when I was done I looked at him and said, ‘Sir, I think you said something before, and if it was important I didn’t want to miss it.
“It was so like dude, you don’t know who you’re messing with. I am always going to be nice, I’m not going to be nasty like you. but you’re going to feel the pain. He was flabbergasted, he had no idea what to say.”
