Kendrick Lamar Ties Drake With A Song He Made To Diss The Rapper

Kendrick Lamar is in charge of the Hot Rap Songs chart once again this week. The hip-hop powerhouse leads Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed rap-only tracks in the country this frame with what has turned out to be one of the biggest hits of his career. As the Grammy champion runs the show once more, he ties with several other superstars—including the one that his latest ruler is aimed at.

“Not Like Us” keeps at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs list once again. The track has now spent 18 frames on top of the competitive tally. That’s one of the longest reigns of all time, and it helps Lamar match his rival.

With 18 weeks spent at No. 1, “Not Like Us” is now tied as one of the third-longest-running leaders on the Hot Rap Songs ranking. It’s on the same level as four other smashes that came before it, and it’s within striking distance of the all-time record.

“Not Like Us” is currently matched with all of the following smashes, which dominated the Hot Rap Songs chart for 18 weeks each: “Hot Boyz” by Missy Elliott, Lil’ Mo, Nas, Eve, and Q-Tip, “Lollipop” by Lil Wayne and Static Major, “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX, and “Hotline Bling” by Drake.
The fact that Lamar is tied with Drake in this moment must be highlighted. “Not Like Us” is the most successful of the songs released during the recent flare-up of the feud between the two rappers. The single is a diss track, with plenty of tough digs aimed at the Canadian chart-topper—and now it’s matched Drake’s longest run at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs tally.

Just two hits sit above Lamar, Drake, and company. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” still owns this bit of history, as it held onto the throne on the Hot Rap Songs chart for 20 weeks. The same musician—Lil Nas—also claims the second-longest-running ruler ever. Jack Harlow joined him on “Industry Baby,” which topped the list for 19 frames.

“Not Like Us” has spent just 19 weeks on the Hot Rap Songs chart, with all but one of them at No. 1. It seems highly likely that Lamar’s single will continue to run the show, at least for another stint or two. There’s a good chance that the cut will tie Lil Nas—perhaps both of his singles—and reset this all-time ranking fairly soon.
